A brewers blog. This is something new I've wanted to try, but never really had a good topic to blog about. Since I started my adventures in Home brewing, I've found a fun, fulfilling hobby that I really enjoy, and can now blog about it. I don't have any real idea what I'm going to put on here, but I'm sure I can come up with lots of ideas.
Since I've started brewing beer, I've made quite a few batches. All of them have been 5 gallon each, but each have been different styles using different techniques.
My first ever brew was a Scottish Ale Extract Kit with steeping grains from Brewers Best. I bought the kit online when I purchased my brewing hardware kit. Boy, was I nervous my first day brewing. But thankfully, I had a good idea/plan for my first brew day.
Like with any other hobby that I get really into, or get excited about, I end up doing tons of research on the subject. Thankfully, I have the internet as my research library. That's where I found the Homebrewtalk.com forums. What a community of home brew experts. The wealth of knowledge and experience on there is amazing. I don't know where I'd be now in my brewing experience if I didn't have the forums online to help with simple questions.
As of now, I've brewed a Scottish Ale, Imperial Blonde Ale, Belgian White, ESB, Saaz Pale Ale, American Red Ale, Amarillo SMaSH and an Apfelwein. Coming up next is a Pumpkin Ale that I've very excited about.
I'll update more posts later about each ale I've brewed and techniques I've tried. For now, onto some beer!
